Refueling speed is only one part of a fleet decision. The useful comparison connects route, payload, dwell time, station design and seasonal conditions.
The route sets the requirement
A vehicle that repeats a fixed route has a different refueling problem from one that changes routes and payloads each day. Start with distance, return windows, reserve policy and the time available at the depot. This makes it possible to compare hydrogen refueling with charging on the work pattern that actually matters.
Fast fill needs a prepared site
Pressure, pre-cooling, storage and dispenser controls work together. A headline fill time does not describe the queue behind the dispenser, the recovery period between vehicles or the energy needed to keep the station ready. Site planning should therefore describe both the vehicle interface and the station rhythm.
Duty cycle is the honest denominator
Fuel consumption, auxiliary loads and temperature all affect range and availability. A strong fleet note states the duty cycle used for comparison and identifies the conditions that would make the result less favourable. That is more useful than treating a single range figure as a universal promise.
